Cheyenne to Laramie

Such evocative names....cowboy country. Cheyenne is a pleasant city with old buildings abounding and the people are very friendly. The Wrangler store dominates the main street, right next to the old railway station

At the restored railway station there was a farmers market being held

The giant cowboy boots outside were in multitudes of colours.

At the farmers market, a stall holder took a shine to Hunter and gave her one of her cherry bags that she was selling. Very pretty and handy for all those purchases.

Wyoming is the first state to have women vote in USA, there are a number of references to this around the state but this woman is outside the railway station

Inside the restored station there are a number nice features in the architecture. It was set up for a wedding but you can see the chandeliers and ceiling for instance

And a nice little gift store.....in the old baggage room.

Great old buildings all round

And you know you are in cowboy country when you see the boot shops with rows and rows just like this

And this

Honestly rows and rows and hats too

And rhinestone belts

Hunter looked cute in a cowboy hat

Then it was on the road to Laramie over the Happy Jack Road

Great stone formations on the way

We asked Dan to take the pic but he cut the sign out a bit.

Then finally Laramie, what a disappointment.....the visitor centre closed

Tourists don't usually make it here........the home of Laramie, the great TV show for people of my generation. The signs are here...

Here is the most interesting building that we have seen but there is the territory prison yet to see in the morning

A kind lady at a Women's Rights Museum gave us some advice about exploring the area....Judy Knight....

We found a decent place to eat.

But here is main street Laramie on a Saturday evening.

At least we found Hunter's place, next to the attractive church on the left above.

This is Hunter Hall

A grotty motel on the main street for the night,
still we have some good nights in front of us, so it won't hurt. And there is always shopping ....more boots here and these are the men's ones

And of course rhinestone purses

Ahhhhhhh. Not quite the Laramie of TV paradise.....Tomorrow on to Lander for two nights , it is a 3 and half hour trip but looks a good place to explore.
