we drove up to see Sink Hole Canyon, through a green valley to the canyon,
not far out of town, with deer crossing the road several times in front of us,
Beautiful rock formations
and also saw some wildly beautiful country in the mountains as well as wildlife.
Even the old magpie looked beautiful
The Popo Agie River sinks down through limestone rock and reappears further down the canyon
it rises into a beautiful clear trout pool with the largest trout I have ever seen views from a platform well above.
At the sink end we saw these
From there
we took the loop road up the mountain through some switchback turns up to 9800 ft -fantastic views from up there - smokey due to wildfires
and back down over a dirt track
to highway 28 and back to Lander. Although the ranger lady told us it would take about an hour there were many stops and photos to take
and so we were back at the Oxbow for lunch in Lander at about 2.30. The Red Canyon on the way home was a stunner.
After that we walked through a small park with more of the bronze castings that Lander is famous for - Bronze Foundry here -you will have seen in some other posts.
We were going to the Wyoming Game and Fish Display which was not too bad.
We then walked uptown again and that was enough for one day.
An ice cream to finish the day and now I need sleep.
Loving the fur hat Hunter but I am Tired out!
Tomorrow to Jackson to see Tom and Janet's stomping ground. I like Lander!- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone
