Long drive to Lander

We left the seedy motel in Laramie

(so disappointed in Laramie not living up to the nostalgia of the TV programme - that will teach me.) On the interstate with a thousand truckies and their BFTs.

Drove through some mighty big country with sage brush and pronghorns and the odd cattle beast.

Past the oil refinery at Sinclair

Arrived at Rawlins in time for lunch at the local honky Tonk joint

Amusing, if it weren't for the smoke filled spaces.

Poor Hunter wasn't allowed to dance - not even with the lonely legs

Then northward to Lander. Beautiful country stunning scenery even from my driver's seat while Dan had a snooze

Lots of high passes to go over

Cracked roads from the heat and cold probably.

Lots of wooden breaks which Dan explained were designed to send the snow drifts to the side of the road and keep the roads clearer.

Lots of long straight roads.

And amazingly beautiful rock formations

And finally to Lander, a pretty little town and I am glad we took the lady's advice in Laramie and will have two nights here before we go to Jackson Hole.

The gps did not like the address of the motel so we had a few detours on the way it was not too long until we found it. The Pronghorn Inn is much nicer than last nights dive. And friendly helpful staff.

Pretty planter boxes all round

And lots of diversions for 10 year old girls

The best coffee i have had since NZ in the old town coffee shop.

Dan had rootbeer

And Hunter had creaming soda

So sight-seeing tomorrow will take us out of this pretty town but we will be back to the Pronghorn for a second night.

Dinner at the Oxbow restaurant next door and Hunter had the best strawberry Sunday I have ever seen. Shame I never had the camera. A night in again with an early sleep I hope. We are in the heart of Wyoming.

YeeeeeHarrrrr g'nite!
